IL Consultancy is one of the most trusted and established language agencies in South Africa. We offer our clients excellent rates and services. We offer a full house of language services, ranging from translation to editing, proofreading, design, audio recording services, transcription and e-learning programmes.

We have been involved in the language services, translation and educational assistance industry for over a decade. In 2018 Bangula cc was rebranded as IL Consultancy (Pty) Ltd. IL Consultancy is an EME, working with a large pool of freelance service providers/language practitioners/teachers.

Overview

IL Consultancy has been rendering a vast range of educational services to the foremost educational publishers and developers in South Africa since its inception in 2003, initially as Bangula and since 2018 as IL Consultancy (Pty) Ltd. In support of its expansion internationally, IL Consultancy was rebranded from Bangula to IL Consultancy (Pty) Ltd in 2018.

Our services cover everything from project management, content development, audio recordings of content, preparing content for conversion to e-publication, sourcing online teachers, and editing, proofreading and translation/versioning of learning material into all the South African languages.

Our educational clients include (in alphabetical order): Eish-Team, Heinemann (now owned by Pearson), Juta, Learning Channel, Macmillan, Tulane University, Maskew Miller Longman (now owned by Pearson), Modlin e-Learning Solutions, Oxford University Press, Pearson, Shuter and Shooter, Troupant, Vivlia Publishers & Booksellers, and Zebra Publishers (Namibia).

All our educational projects were project-managed by our founder member, Han Sapire, who has an MA in Translation from the University of the Witwatersrand, where she has been a full-time and later

part-time lecturer and mentor. In addition, Han herself has written a large number of educational textbooks as can be gleaned from her CV.

Under the present CAPS (Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement) curriculum, which replaced the previous OBE (Outcomes-based Education) curriculum in 2012, our services thus far have covered the following phases and subjects:

Foundation Phase (Grades R-3): Life Skills, Literacy, Numeracy

Intermediate Phase (Grades 4-6): Home Language, First Additional Language, Life Skills, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Technology, Social Sciences.

Senior Phase (Grades 7-9): Home Language, First Additional Language, Second Additional Language, Economics Management and Science, Life Orientation, Mathematics, Natural Science, Social Science, Technology.

FET Phase (Grades 10-12): Accounting, Agricultural Science, Business Studies, Civil Technology, Computer Applications Technology, Consumer Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Hospitality Studies, Information Technology, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, Mathematical Literacy, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Tourism.

We have a huge team of highly trained educators and lecturers whereby we are able to accommodate most subjects offered by prestigious private schools.

Overview

In order to deliver quality work we use only top-quality suppliers. Most of our suppliers hold a post-graduate qualification, some with masters and PhD degrees and they are active in their chosen subject field. We use only language practitioners with suitable experience. We use a system of obtaining references from clients, trainers of translators/editors and the professional editors’ body (PEG) and professional translators’ body (SATI) to appoint suppliers, after which they are mentored and subjected to frequent quality checks. Our translations are also independently checked for quality before delivery.

About our professional translators and educators

IL Consultancy uses a team of top-quality translators and education experts with years of experience and high qualifications who are able to teach classes via online platforms. All of them hold graduate or post-graduate qualifications and are currently active in their chosen fields.

We work with a large database of translators and pride ourselves on being able to perfectly match up translators with the relevant language, technicalities, terminology and subject matter.

We will match the topic of your project with one or more translators who possess the required expertise. They will also be aware of current language trends related to the subject field, ensuring both accuracy and clarity.

Each job goes through an independent quality check process to ensure the quality of our translations.
